Can't wait to be "waiting"!

I commented on another adoption blog the other day that I can't wait to be waiting!  If you aren't familiar with the adoption process, that statement might seem strange to you.  But, if you are adopting, or have adopted, then you probably know exactly what I am talking about! :)

I called the FBI this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to find out that our reports are set to be mailed out to the agency no later than Thursday.  We sent them our fingerprint cards 8 weeks ago, so I was not expecting them to be ready so soon!  Not that 8 weeks is a short amount of time, by any means.  But, we were expecting more like 12-13 weeks before the reports would be mailed.

All we have left to submit from the super-long documents list is a letter from the vet stating that our pets are up-to-date on their vaccinations and we need to get LiveScan prints taken for the state background check.  Thank goodness, though, that the state check only takes 48 hours to complete.  Then we will schedule our interviews and home visit with the social worker.  Hopefully the home study will be complete shortly after that!

We are currently working on our profile (also called the Dear Birthmother Letter) and hope to have it finished soon.  Our text is pretty much approved, and now we are working on gathering pictures.  Well, we actually have to take some pictures, since we don't have many that fit the agency's criteria.  Then we'll send it all to the graphic designer we decided to use and get the letter designed and get the final approval.  I'm not sure of exactly what our timeline to going "on the books" is at this point, but I hope it isn't much longer.

Like I said, we can't wait to be officially waiting!
